About Me

Hey! I’m Mark. I run this blog, and I’m just out here trying to play golf without totally losing my mind (or my balance: shout out to Multiple Sclerosis).

I started Swinging Through It because, frankly, golf can be a lot. It’s beautiful, frustrating, expensive, peaceful, maddening. Sometimes all in the same hole. And when you throw in the curve balls that life hands you (hello, chronic illness), playing “normal” golf just isn’t in the cards for a lot of us. So instead, I’m playing my kind of golf. And I want you to feel like you can, too. I’m based in the muggy, humidity-drenched region of Northwest Florida, where the fairways are sandy, the gators are real, and my golf game is very much a work in progress. If you’ve ever sweat through your glove before teeing off,  we’re already friends.

This isn’t a site for swing gurus or scratch players with matching head covers and emotional support alignment sticks, although all are welcome. This is for the rest of us, the range rats, the fairway wanderers, the “I just need this walk” crowd. You’ll find a mix of stuff here: practice routines that don’t require a PhD in biomechanics, gear reviews (I’ll tell it to you straight), and unfiltered thoughts on the mental game (like what to do when your 7-iron betrays you in public).

I also write about making golf more accessible for folks with physical or mental challenges  because showing up to play the game your way is always worth celebrating. And because I love a good rabbit hole, you’ll also get occasional takes on the pro golf circus and breakdowns of my favorite golf YouTubers. The ones who make you laugh, learn, or consider blowing your entire paycheck on a simulator setup.

Because that’s exactly what I’m doing. Some days the swing is smooth. Some days it’s more like a full-body spasm in khakis. But either way, I’m out here, showing up, giving it a go, and swinging through it.

And if that sounds like your kind of golf, welcome. You’re in the right place

Got a question, a story, or a video of your friend duffing it into a pond? I want to see it.
